Canvas Tent Shop is a UK-based store, specialising in selling canvas tents and camping accessories to B2C customers.

Founded in the 1980s, the company started by selling ex-army tents, evolving to supply luxury tents and marquees for weddings, festivals, and holidays.

The challenge

Canvas Tent Shop approached us to migrate their existing Magento site to a new eCommerce solution. While their current website was functional, Canvas Tent Shop wanted a site that was easier to update and manage themselves, and offered additional functionality to customers.

Canvas Tent Shop also wanted a complete site redesign, providing a modern, clean, and fresh look that represented its brand.

The website

Canvas Tent Shop came to us with a list of requirements, including eBay and Amazon integration, package builder functionality, and Klarna and PayPal integration.

After meeting with the Canvas Tent Shop team to understand their needs, we agreed that WooCommerce was the best option. This eCommerce platform provided all the functionality that Canvas Tent Shop wanted.

WooCommerce also integrates with various third-party solutions and is easy to scale, providing the futureproofing that Canvas Tent Shop wanted as it grew its brand further.

A full data migration was required from the previous site, with product information, orders, and custom shipping rates moved across. As the company had built up a significant backlink profile and search engine optimisation rankings over the years, it was important that these were unaffected.

It was also critical that the site be re-hosted with zero service disruption, to ensure no downtime and no lost sales.

Regarding the site redesign, it was essential to create something that complemented the brand and supported a fully optimised user experience. Our design team created mock-ups and when these were approved, redesigned all existing templates.

The package builder

One of the new additions to the Canvas Tent Shop site was a package builder. This section lets customers design their own unique camping package, from tent to stove and accessories.

The package builder allows for several combinations of products, with discounts applied for bulk purchasing. We designed and developed the package builder, thoroughly testing it to ensure it offered the correct pricing and a smooth customer experience.
