My Apprenticeship at Xigen

My apprenticeship at Xigen

After i finished my first year of A levels at the end of 2015,  I decided that I wanted to go into web design, that’s when I found Xigen.

Before I started working at Xigen I was nervous with this not only being my first job, but with also meeting new people, but I am happy to say that I felt welcomed right away and everyone was nice and easy to talk to. Even with the relaxed atmosphere everyone here is so driven and, the wealth of knowledge and experience between everyone creates a well-balanced working environment.

The tasks I was given in the beginning came with lots of help from the other members of the team, which was really reassuring and I received a lot of feedback which i really benefited from. As the quality of the work here is so high and me being relatively new to the world of web design, I had a lot to learn, but now due to the support i received I am able to work more independently. Since I’ve started working here i have been able to make all different kinds of banners, EDMs, email signatures and work on range of other projects.

Along with the client work I was given I was also assigned small personal projects to work on, which focused on my  development to help me become more familiar with a certain pieces of software or just certain techniques, and although these projects would never make into the real world, I received feedback and reviews on the work I produced so could improve it, and my own skills at the same time.

I’ve learnt so much in the space of half a year not only from the unbeatable hands on experience I’ve able to go through but just by watching the outstanding example of the other members of my team around me and being relied on and  to rely on them for support when I need it.

This is the kind of experience that can’t be taught in a classroom or lecture hall, and I’m so happy that I was given this opportunity.
