NHBC is the UK’s leading provider of warranty and insurance for new-build homes and works with housebuilders to raise the standards and quality of homes being built.

  • Each year, they run their Building for tomorrow series of seminars across the UK, as a way of sharing technical and regulatory knowledge with housebuilders and others involved in the construction of new homes.

  • They wanted a way to encourage potential delegates to sign up for their events with a landing page that was exciting to look at and modern in design, as well as improve the process for selling tickets for the events at ten different venues.

The NHBC Building for tomorrow seminars bring together delegates from all over the country to hear speakers who are leading professionals in their field and is a highly-regarded event within the house-building industry.

We needed to design and build a landing page that encouraged potential delegates to discover the benefits of attending one of the seminars and make it easy for them to purchase tickets. Until now, the process of selling tickets to each seminar had been done offline, with delegates phoning or emailing NHBC to order and then being sent an invoice.

NHBC wanted to be able to streamline the process and allow delegates to book online. This included the use of voucher codes that allowed a 3 for 2 offer and also a discount on certain venues. The process had to be intuitive and easy to use, as well as operate correctly when the vouchers were used, both singly and in combination for multiple delegates across multiple locations.

We also developed the functionality for the events to be set up and managed by the in-house NHBC Shop team, from creating new events to amending ticket availability, to moving delegates to different events.

Landing page

The landing page was designed to showcase the benefits of attending the Building for tomorrow seminars. Keeping in line with the familiar NHBC branding, details of the seminars were presented in a bold and bright layout that grabbed and held the attention of the user. With venue details and ticket availability brightly and cleanly laid out, the user was able to see at a glance where the nearest event was taking place and whether they could still obtain tickets.

Shop process

From the landing page, the user was able to go directly to the booking process, selecting the venue that suited them best and booking their tickets through the online shop. A voucher code was made available for all the venues that allowed delegates to purchase three tickets for the price of two, while an additional voucher code was made available that further reduced the price of tickets for only one of the venues. These had to work correctly both individually and together to ensure that delegates were not overcharged and were able to benefit from the appropriate discounts immediately on checkout.

The launch has been a huge success with feedback from NHBC and users being extremely positive.

Client feedback

Xigen have helped us deliver a great online solution that has delivered a 60% saving in time spent by our Events Team in processing ticket sales and payments. Our Finance Team have benefited even more, with the simplified process taking 75% less time to process than the old manual system. By taking immediate online credit card payments for tickets we’ve also massively reduced our financial exposure for late or non-payments. Ticket sales were up nearly 12% this year compared to last. We also now have a solution that we can use next year and beyond for this event and others.
