Jacksons Art Supplies is one of the leading online retailers of art supplies in the UK, shipping their range of 50,000+ products to 187 countries worldwide.

Our goal was to plan, rebuild and migrate to a new e-commerce technology, with the scalability required for future growth. The new website would also benefit from a responsive front-end and a re-design to coincide with a full rebrand of the business.

  • Integrating the new platform with an array of 3rd party channels (eBay, Amazon, Rakuten etc)
  • Managing the data full migration process of existing customers, historic orders, and some 50,000+ products
  • Providing a dedicated hosting solution that would ensure a high-level of speed, security and data redundancy

Due to the high volume of orders feeding from multiple channels, it was important that we account for every level of complexity in our approach.

In addition, the former e-commerce offering was heavily integrated with a back-end order management system. One of our foremost challenges was to maintain a seamless service during the migration to Magento.

We also needed to help with the adjustment process for the business. As key day-to-day workflows would change it was important to make sure staff had a system that was accessible and intuitive.

Successful migration

After a successful soft launch to a targeted group of UK users, the business was ready to fully launch the new site. With intensive preparation, we were able to minimise front-end downtime and process 900+ orders on day 1. The new Magento website was well received by its users, with the average session time increasing by over 90%, and 165% on mobile devices specifically.

Increase in traffic

Long term analysis post go-live highlighted a strong increase in organic overseas traffic. This presented Jacksons Art Supplies with a clear opportunity to better cater for international sales. This remains to be their largest growth area to date.
